Name: Riku Replica
Canon: Kingdom Hearts
Canon Point: After losing his final fight to Riku in Castle Oblivion
OU/AU/CRAU/OC: OU
Age: Physically/mentally around 15, chronologically less than a month
World Information: Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories on a KH wiki
Personal History: Repliku's page
Personality: First of all--as his name implies--the Riku Replica is basically a clone of an existing person, and a good chunk of his personality comes from that person as a result. However, while he and the original Riku are very similar, they do act distinctly different enough for people to tell them apart, primarily due to some memory tampering and generally traumatic events.
In the beginning, Repliku is confident to the point of arrogance, stubborn and aggressive. He knows that he’s a clone and generally why he exists in the first place, but these facts don't seem to hinder his ability to taunt anyone he thinks is weaker than him...which is just about everyone. However, he gets highly defensive if someone else mentions that fact, and is quick to reassure them (and possibly himself in the process) that it doesn’t matter to him. Basically, very cocky but also extremely insecure.
One of the first things he does in life is going to find and confront his 'brother' Riku. He's quick to point out how different they are despite their appareances by boasting that while Riku fears darkness and is reluctant to use it, he doesn't fear it at all and wields it freely, thus making him already stronger. At this point, he really doesn’t actually understand what wielding darkness fully entails, having only some memories of wielding it and none of the actual experience.
After he has his memories tampered with by Naminé, his personality aligns more with Riku's while he's working with Maleficent-- he forgets that he's a clone but 'remembers' Naminé, who he had really just met, but keeps his attitude. He becomes very loyal to and protective of Naminé and hostile to anyone who seems to be a threat. This includes Sora, who becomes a high-threat target in the Replica's mind, despite merely being a person of interest before the memory tampering and a good friend in his new 'past' memories.
As a result of this, the Replica fights Sora several times, getting beaten and retreating each time. Unfortunately for Sora, he's a sore loser, much like Riku, but has absolutely no qualms about fighting dirty, since the concept of a 'fair fight' doesn't really exist. He attempts to finish Sora when he's down after one of their fights, prompting Naminé to take action and knock him out with her version of a heart attack, which supposedly removes the fake memories she gave him. Later, it’s shown that this isn’t the case, because...
...While it ‘reveals’ to him what he actually is, he doesn’t completely forget the manufactured memories. He still feels the same way towards Naminé, wanting to stay by her side and protect her despite what she had done, but also doesn't resent Sora, since Sora isn’t considered much of a threat anymore. In fact, after being soundly beaten by the Sora-Naminé doubleteam, he gains a lot of respect for Sora, though he doesn’t feel he has a right to be Sora’s friend anymore considering how he’s acted.
Repliku’s final personality is a bit confused and fragmented. Most of the time, he’ll act much like Riku--cool and confident with a side of slightly awkward--because that's what he knows and what feels most comfortable for him. They're both fairly impulsive, but Repliku tends to act on said impulses much more often. Unlike Riku, he still has a much shorter temper and more aggression than the original and his confidence in himself more easily lost. He’s very possessive of things he deems ‘his’--clothes, food, random trinkets, friends--and is entirely likely to start a fight if he feels said things are in danger of leaving him. He doesn't trust easily, preferring to find things out himself rather than take anyone's word for information, despite any danger or risk involved in obtaining that information.
At his current canonpoint, he despises Riku. He's tried and failed to kill him multiple times and gone all in on a final attempt, which also failed, so he's extremely bitter about the whole thing and is determined to win on their next rematch somehow.
Key themes: identity, purpose in life, memories
Main Motivation: Naminé; also literally and figuratively making a name for himself
Skills: He fights with a sword (self-taught) with a style that focuses on quick, hard strikes. He tends to try to force his opponent into reacting by attacking first, and favors cheap shots, such as those to the face or back.
The most notable special ability of his is the ability to manipulate darkness to an extent. Explicitly shown in canon are the ability to create an armored semi-organic suit of darkness, create and throw darkness ‘fireballs', create temporary dark portals to attack from and move through, and slightly augment his own strength with dark power. He seems to also have the ability to absorb the powers of others, but is never shown actually using the gained powers. If Riku's ability at around the same level is any indication, Repliku also possesses the ability to identify others by darkness or light 'scent'.
Other than fighting and darkness, he doesn't have much in the way of special skills. General life skills--cooking, cleaning, etc.--are sort of fuzzy as he's never had to use any of them yet.
Item: His sword, Soul Eater, usually lives in KH weaponspace. I'd like him to have his version of Naminé's good luck charm in his bag though.
Sample: An old test drive toplevel for another game and one on this game's recent test drive
Notes: I don't think so?
