Twelfth Step -> Video (Backdated the 12th because I fail like that)

[It's mid-morning, and this video is taking place inside a room at an inn in Ecruteak. The video shows the latter, or part of it--a bed with rumpled covers and a wall, at least, before moving to suddenly show a small pile of eggs. A recently-hatched Absol and a slightly older Meowth are nearby, the Meowth occasionally reaching out to paw at the eggs.]

Man, I wish more of these things could talk, and warn me when they're going to get all friendly with each other.

[He's thinking out loud, but doesn't particularly care if anyone hears him. He turned the video on on purpose, after all. The next part is directed at the network.]

If anyone's interested, I've got some eggs for sale. There's some Hoothoot, Ponyta, Houndour, Gastly--still not sure how a ghost can come out of an egg--uh, Frillish, I think...a Gligar, and a couple the Gear thinks are Nidoran eggs. There's a Pidgey egg too, but if you want that one, it's free.

[Evan shuts the recording off, just as a (disguised) Zoroark attempts to steal the Gear from him.

Trust me, you do not want a whole team of talking Pokémon. Just dealing with Slash is bad enough as it is.

[His Psychics and Ace are pretty cool, though.]

Besides, I almost think that some Pokémon like laying eggs just to mess with their trainers.

I wouldn't care if Aura would cooperate and translate for me. But he won't.

[He thinks Slash is kinda funny, so Riku's opinion doesn't count for that.]

I think mine do. A couple of them are intentional, but I didn't know Spectre cared to breed with anything.

By the way, I'm sending your Volcaronas back next time I find a PC.

You got any Psychic types? You could just ask them and save yourself some frustration.

[He shrugs. Telepathy's definitely got its perks.]

And I'll be keeping my eyes out for those bugs. Got a feeling Vivi'll be happy to see Sora again.

Isaac's Psychic type...I think. Or partly. I've talked with him a few times.

He's completely useless in battle, unless you need a decoy of some sort.

[Which is why he's fated to live in the PC for a while.]

Maybe you're just not using him the right way. Every Pokémon's got their own strengths; you just have to find them and use them to your advantage.

[Whoops, his inner Pokégeek is showing.]

At least you know for sure that yours can talk. I'm still guessing about one of mine. [He's staring pointedly at his Zoruark here, who is cheerfully ignoring him while playing with the Ditto he'd most recently ended up with.]

How do you...not know? And what's that pink thing?

He keeps going silent when I try to listen in on him interacting with other pokemon. [He huffed, then looked over at Sync.]

Ah... that's Sync, he's a ditto. He belonged to Rin while he was here.

Sounds like someone doesn't like you very much.

[He's not even bothering to hide his snicker.]

Rin? Oh, him. I forgot that he left...

He likes me fine, he's just playful. [He wilted a little at the second statement though and huffed. How could someone forget?]

[They never really talked that much, so his leaving didn't have as big of an impact.]

I'm only messing with you.

[He made him shake off the thought so he could focus on the pokemon part.] Hey, it's serious business you know!

He's sneaky.

...Are we talking about Rin or your Zoroark? Because I have yet to see a Zoroark that fits the description of 'serious'.

Rin then Zoroark. [He gave a little laugh.]

Henge is very much not serious.

[Here's a smug face that Evan might be familiar with. He's apparently taken interest in one of the species Evan has eggs for.]

Oho, so you actually did end up obtaining a Frillish. I'm ever so flattered that you took my advice.

[Yeah, she kinda looks like you, Dist. Also he's rolling his eyes internally at you.]

Yeah, I caught her a few months ago. I didn't intend to breed her, she just...had eggs when I wasn't looking....

Hmmm. [He mulls over the possibility.] While I don't see the need for owning multiple Pokemon of the same species, it seems your eggs have some interesting moves attached. Dream Eater wouldn't be very useful without a sleep-inducing move, however...

[And now he's just nitpicking for fun.]

[Excuse you, Dist. He said he didn't plan the Frillish eggs, no nitpicking allowed.]

That's why you have something else put the other Pokémon to sleep, or wait until it puts itself to sleep. I probably wouldn't use one of those Frillish in a one-on-one battle unless I had to.

[He'll do what he waaants.]

While that is a completely valid strategy, I can't help but think it would be so much easier to have a single Pokemon know both moves. It saves the time of switching between Pokemon to complete the move combination.

Though I have to ask, why would you say that? My Frillish is capable of holding her own in battle. Are you saying yours have something wrong with them?

What? I never said anything's wrong with them! Don't put words in my mouth. I just said that I wouldn't pick a Frillish for a one-on-one battle.

[A pause, and then:]

...Can Frillish even learn moves that can put others to sleep?

But why is that? You haven't given me an acceptable answer.

[He then stops to consider Frillish's learnset.]

I don't believe so. How counterproductive, wouldn't you say?

A bit. Maybe it's the type to wait until whatever it's trying to attack is asleep before doing anything. I dunno.

And I'd pick Frillish next to last for any battle because I prefer Fire and Dark types to Water types. Is that an acceptable answer?

But there is no guarantee that it will fall asleep. The trainer would have to make the mistake of putting it to sleep first. That is the annoyingly uncertain part.

[In response to the second answer, he nods.] Playing favorites with types, I see. Well there's really no point in arguing about that, so yes, it is.

[!!!] Pokemon can talk?

[This response is from the Zoroark glimpsed at the end of the video. His current appearance is of a brown-haired young man--one of the inn's housekeepers, though Dorumon probably doesn't know that detail.]

Of course we can. I can talk like humans do, but it's more diffle--difflekur--it's harder to.

Because...I can? I don't know. I just can.

[He just knows it doesn't work the same way as a Ditto's Transformation ability.]

It's not like I'm purposely training them to talk or anything. Aura's the only one who actually tries. Besides, I think it's kinda cool.

I mean... It is cool. I guess I just don't have a good experience with it.
